We have won the $25,000 Neighborhood Assist Grant from State Farm. Thank you very much for all of your help in getting us there.
More than 4,000 applications were submitted and from those we were chosen to be in the top 200. It was then the support of the community that pushed us to the top of the list and ensured that we were among the top 40 causes-- each of which will get a $25,000 grant.
During what felt like 3 endless weeks of voting, we were blown away by the way the community rallied around us to push us over the top. Thank you! This is a much needed grant and will be put to very good use so that we can continue to provide the residents of South Orange and Maplewood with free Emergency Medical care.
WHO IS THE SOUTH ORANGE RESCUE SQUAD
We are an independent 501(c)(3) EMS organization that provides free 911 emergency medical care to 41,000 residents of South Orange and Maplewood NJ and the surrounding communities, including Seton Hall University. The Rescue Squad is staffed by volunteers and funded solely by contributions from the community which are 100% deductible under IRS regulations-- we receive NO taxpayer funding. We also have a cadet program, which teaches High School students about becoming EMTs and trains them to save lives. We teach First Aid and CPR to members of the community, provide free EMS standby coverage at public events, and visit schools, camps and day cares to teach children about safety, First Aid and Emergency Medical Services.
