Thank you for your interest in our rescue squad. SORS is more than a mere volunteer opportunity or medical training program. We are a close-knit family of local volunteers, dedicated to serving our community.
Candidates hoping to join our rescue squad will be asked to train (and gain valuable experience while doing so) over a period of 18 months. The intent is for all new members to obtain EMT certification in tandem with their training, with the hope of securing long-term membership.
It is important we know enough about candidates and their future endeavors so that we (as volunteers ourselves) may make the best decisions when investing our time and resources on potential new members. We are always flattered when community members desire real-world medical experience with us, but it becomes our downfall when, by the time they become a skilled, independent member, their future takes them elsewhere.
Interested in volunteering with us? Follow these steps.
1. Fill out the form on this page.
2. Print and complete a Membership Application.
3. Email us at info@southorangerescuesquad.org or call our station at (973) 762-5647 and arrange a time to return the application to one of our officers.
